Jeep's 2027 Wrangler update is mostly about added standard equipment, especially on the lower and mid-level trims. A color TFT gauge display is now standard on the Sport, Sport S and Willys, and passive entry joins the Sport S and Willys as well. Rubicon picks up heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and embedded navigation as standard, six new paint colors arrive, and the Switchback closes out Jeep's Twelve 4 Twelve special-edition series.

Which Wrangler trims gained the most for 2027?
Most of the news sits in the standard-equipment lists, so the trim you are shopping decides how much changes for you. The 2027 lineup runs Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, Willys 392 and Moab 392, and the Sahara and both 392 models come only as four-doors.

The Sahara's 2027 standard list also includes a front off-road TrailCam, a universal garage door opener and auto high-beam headlights; Jeep does not say which Sahara items are new this year.
For South Sound drivers, the Rubicon update may be the most useful one. Cold, wet mornings are a normal part of a Puget Sound winter, and a heated wheel and seats are things you notice every day from November through March. The TrailCam on the Sahara is handy on a different kind of morning, when a muddy forest road narrows and you want to see what sits just ahead of the front bumper.
Colors
What new colors can you get on a 2027 Wrangler?
Paint is the other headline. Four of the six new shades are Gobi, Sting Gray, Hella Yella and a limited-edition Fathom Blue. The remaining two, Ghost and a limited-edition color called Gum 31, have never been offered on a Wrangler before. All six are late-availability colors. They join a palette that also lists Black, Bright White, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Hydro Blue, Earl Grey, '41 and Joose.
That last detail matters if you have your heart set on one of them. Jeep has not given a firm arrival window for those paints, so if one shade is non-negotiable, make it part of the conversation from the first day.

Which special editions continue into 2027?
Jeep's Twelve 4 Twelve program, the run of limited "product drops," reaches its end with the 2027 model year. Number twelve, the last of them, is the 2027 Wrangler Switchback.
Earlier editions from the program are not gone, either. Whitecap, Rewind, Rockslide, Willys 392 and Moab 392 all continue for 2027, five builds in total.
Powertrain
Engines, 4x4 systems and fuel economy for 2027
Jeep offers three engines for 2027:
- Turbo four: 2.0 liters, 295 lb-ft and 270 horsepower, paired with the eight-speed automatic.
- V-6: 3.6 liters, 260 lb-ft and 285 horsepower.
- V-8: 6.4 liters with an even 470 for both horsepower and lb-ft, again with the eight-speed automatic.
Four-wheel drive comes in four flavors: Selec-Trac full-time, Command-Trac, and Rock-Trac in both part-time and full-time forms. It is worth asking which system comes on the specific Wrangler you are looking at.

Two-door turbo models pick up one extra highway mpg, at 23, while matching the four-door's 20 city and 21 combined. The V-8's appetite for premium fuel is worth weighing if most of your miles are commuting rather than trail days.

Properly equipped, a 2027 Wrangler can pull up to 5,000 pounds, which Jeep describes as best-in-class. Jeep has not announced towing figures by configuration, so treat the properly equipped maximum as a ceiling and have us confirm how a specific Wrangler is set up before you hitch a trailer for a weekend on the Peninsula.
